The celebration of a new building and expanded facilities began with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 25, 2009. The Most Reverend Roger J. Foys, D.D., Bishop of Covington, lead the prayer the blessed the building site. Festivities also included remarks by Villa Hills Mayor Mike Sadouskas and other honored dignitaries, music by the Villa Madonna Academy High School Chorus and a reception. Situated near the main entrance, the new building will feature 60 skilled nursing beds, 40 personal care apartments, and 24 personal care rooms to serve people with dementia. Completion of this 104,000 square-foot building will double the capacity of Madonna Manor to 124 beds. A unique feature of the design is that the skilled nursing and dementia care rooms are clustered in smaller, more intimate neighborhoods with a shared hearth room, kitchenette, and family-style dining room. Shared common areas adjacent to the personal care apartments will provide residents with ample space for socializing. The building will also feature a large chapel for worship, a spacious gathering room with a grand piano and coffee service, an on-site salon, a relaxing spa area, fully equipped therapy room, dedicated activity room, and an elegant dining room enhanced by pastoral views of the lake. |
